Fresh Green Beans Recipe

Every incredible dinner needs an amazing side dish. Fresh green beans with buttery and garlic flavor will be perfect side for dinner table. Green beans are so versatile having so many ways to cook them with different flavors and texture. Very quick and easy, fresh green beans are made in a skillet with only few simple ingredients and turn out pleasant and healthy. These are perfect for side dish or adding to salads. These fresh sautéed beans can even be used to make a great casserole. This method for cooking fresh green beans is quite simple. Wash and trim the beans, rinse in colander and trim off the stems. These beans are then stir fried and seasoned with butter, garlic, salt and pepper. With this kick of garlic you will definitely love these green beans with vibrant color and tender crisp texture.

In this recipe if you want, you can replace butter with olive oil. Here, green beans are first sautéed in olive oil and then combined with butter and ginger. This butter and oil mixture prevents the butter from burning out and provides great results. You can also go ahead and blanch the beans before tossing them in oil.

To spice up things, you can add some other veggies too like bell peppers, onions or mushrooms. You can also go creative with the seasonings and toss in some herbs too.

Serve these delicious buttery green beans as a side with roasted beef, steak, pork or grilled chicken. There are many options for green beans to go with.

Preparation time: 5 minutes        cook time: 8 minutes           total time: 13 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 12 ounce green beans trimmed
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ teaspoon coarse salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper freshly cracked/ground
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions:

  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.  Add beans in it and sauté for few minutes. Toss to make sure all beans get some color on them.
  • Add butter and garlic in the center of the beans. Cook for about 30 seconds then add salt and pepper. Move around the beans in the skillet and toss them well to make sure they are all evenly coated and seasoned.
  • Add a tablespoon of water and cook, stirring often. Let the water evaporate and beans to become tender and crisp.
  • Serve and enjoy!

 

Note: If you are using frozen green beans, thaw them and transfer into the pan. There is no need to blanch the frozen beans.
