  • 1 large avocado

  1. Prepare the Egg Wash: In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, lime juice, and hot sauce. This mixture will serve as the binding agent for the coating.
  2. Prep the Flour: Place the flour on a sheet of wax paper. This will be the first layer of coating for the avocado slices.
  3. Mix Breadcrumbs and Cornmeal: In another bowl, mix together the panko breadcrumbs, cornmeal, and salt. Place this mixture on another sheet of wax paper. This will create the crispy and flavorful outer layer of the avocado fries.
  4. Prepare the Avocado: Split the large avocado in half, remove the pit, and either peel the skin or use a spoon to lift the avocado halves from the skin.
  5. Slice and Coat the Avocado: Cut each avocado half lengthwise into ½-inch slices. Dip each avocado slice first in the flour, then in the egg wash, and finally, roll them in the panko and cornmeal mixture. Make sure each slice is evenly coated.
  6. Mist with Oil and Cook: Lightly mist the coated avocado slices with oil or use a cooking spray. Place the coated slices in the air fryer basket. Set the air fryer temperature to 390°F (200°C) and cook for 10 minutes, or until the crust becomes brown and crispy.
