Unlike store-bought alternatives, these chips are toasted to perfection with a light misting of oil and a delightful crunch. Whether you’re looking for a kid-approved snack or a versatile appetizer, Bagel Chips are an excellent choice.

Yield: approx. 2½ cups

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cooking Time: 2–4 minutes

Total Time: 12–14 minutes

INGREDIENTS:

Sweet Bagel Chips:

  • 1 large plain bagel
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Butter-flavored cooking spray

Savory Bagel Chips:

  • 1 large plain bagel
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Oil for misting or cooking spray

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Preheat the Air Fryer: Begin by preheating the air fryer to 390°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the Bagel: Cut the large plain bagel into slices that are approximately ¼-inch thick or thinner. For uniform thickness, it’s recommended to lay the bagel flat and slice it height-wise. Alternatively, if you have unsplit bagels, you can cut them crosswise into rounds.
  3. Mix the Seasonings: Depending on your preferred flavor, mix the seasonings together. For sweet bagel chips, combine the sugar and ground cinnamon. For savory bagel chips, mix the Italian seasoning and garlic powder.
  4. Coat with Seasonings: Spread out the bagel slices and mist them with oil or cooking spray. Sprinkle half of the selected seasonings over the slices.
  5. Repeat for Other Side: Turn over the bagel slices and repeat the coating process on the other side. Ensure that both sides are coated with a mist of oil or cooking spray and seasonings.
  6. Cooking Process: Place the coated bagel slices in the air fryer basket. Cook for 2 minutes, then shake the basket or gently stir the chips. Continue cooking for an additional 1 to 2 minutes, or until the chips turn toasty brown and achieve a satisfying crispiness.

VARIATION:

  • Try flavored bagels, such as blueberry, cinnamon, or “everything.” Because they already contain seasoning, just mist with oil or spray and cook. For sweet bagels, use butter-flavored cooking spray

NOTE:

  • You can slice the bagel into rounds, but that makes it hard to cut slices of uniform thickness. We find it much simpler to lay the bagel flat and slice it height-wise. You end up with chips that vary in dimensions, but it’s much easier to cut them all to the same thickness. If you buy unsplit bagels, you can cut them crosswise into rounds. The width of each slice will vary due to the curvature of the bagel, but this difference won’t affect cooking.
