Apple Fried Pies Recipe

Unleavened bread is very easy to make and require only 3 basic ingredients. It is undoubtedly delicious when served warm with butter and tastes perfect with hummus.

These fried apple pies are perfect for picnics or family gatherings with juicy and full of flavor apple pie filling. These apple fried pies have tender, flaky crust and powdered sugar glaze.
With some basic ingredients, you can make homemade apple pies from scratch and not only some ordinary ones but the best pies you ever had in your life. These little pockets are full of heaven and best of all they are so much easy to make. It is ultimate comfort food for cool fall days. So what exactly are you waiting for? Ingredients:

FOR APPLE PIE FILLING:

  •  2 large apples, peeled, cored, and diced.
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons cider
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

FOR PIE DOUGH:

  • 2 cups self-rising flour, sifted
  • 4 Tablespoons butter, cubed
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/3 cup hot milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

FOR PIE GLAZE:

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 Tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • Vegetable or canola oil, for frying

Instructions:

  • Take a saucepan and combine the apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla in it. Let cook over medium heat for about 3 minutes. The juices will start to form. Now add the apple cider (or apple juice) and cornstarch in a small bowl and pour this mixture into the saucepan. Turn the heat up to high and cook for an additional 3 minutes. Stir constantly, or until the mixture has thickened. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Now make homemade pie dough. Add flour in large mixing bowl and add butter cubes in it. Work the mixture until you see that butter is tiny lumps. Combine egg yolks and salt in a separate bowl. Begin to pour hot milk to egg mixture slowly and stir continuously.
  • Pour egg and milk mixture in flour mixture and stir until dough has formed. Knead the dough on parchment paper for about 1 minute until it looks smooth.
  • Divide the dough in 6 equal pieces and roll each one into ball. Use rolling pin and roll each ball into circle.
  • Fill each circle with 2 tablespoons of apple pie filling and fold in half. Pinch the edges and use fork so the filling stays in.
  • Now heat oil in deep fryer or deep sauce pan and add pies into the hot oil and fry for about 2 minutes each side. Place them on paper towel.
    Prepare the glaze by whisking together sugar, vanilla extract and milk until it is smooth. Glaze your pies right after frying when they are still warm.
    Ready to serve!
