Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup butter (bacon or sausage grease works best too)
- 1/4 cup flour
- 2 cups milk
- 2 teaspoons cracked black pepper
Instructions:
- In a medium sauce pan add ½ cup butter and let it melt completely on a medium-high heat.
- Now sprinkle the flour over it, and stir it together. Make sure there are no lumps. It will make a thick paste.
- Add two cups of milk and two teaspoons pepper to the butter and flour mixture.
- Whisk continuously and vigorously to remove any lumps.
- The gravy will start to bubble.
- Keep stirring until it reaches a thicker consistency (like that of a pudding) and then remove it from the heat.
- The gravy gets thicker as it cools.
- Serve warm.
