INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 eggs
  • 2/3 cup whole milk
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 6 slices of thick Texas toast bread
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Additional butter (for serving)
  • Syrup (for serving)

PREPARATIONS:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the eggs, milk, flour, sugar, vanilla extract, salt, and cinnamon. Mix until well combined.
  2. Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  3. Add 1 tablespoon of butter to the hot skillet. If the butter starts to smoke, reduce the heat.
  4. Dip each slice of bread into the batter, making sure to coat both sides. Allow any excess batter to drip off before transferring the bread to the skillet.
  5. Cook each slice of bread for approximately 1 1/2 to 2 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
  6. If needed, add more butter to the skillet to cook all the slices.
  7. Once cooked, transfer the French toast to a plate and dust with powdered sugar.
  8. Serve the French toast with additional butter and warm syrup.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:

  • For a delightful twist, sprinkle a touch of cinnamon or drizzle maple syrup on top of the powdered sugar for extra flavor.
  • Feel free to experiment with different types of bread, such as brioche or challah, to add a unique twist to this classic recipe.
  • To keep the French toast warm while preparing the remaining slices, place them on a baking sheet in a preheated oven at 200°F (93°C).
  • Enhance your breakfast experience by serving the French toast with a side of fresh fruit or crispy bacon.

Indulge in the deliciousness of your homemade French toast and savor each and every bite. This delightful breakfast dish is a perfect way to kickstart your day and create lasting memories around the table. Enjoy!
