VARIATIONS:

SIMPLE MISO HERB DIPPING SAUCE:

  • For an herb-infused version, add 1/2 cup of chopped fresh cilantro, basil, Thai basil, shiso, or mint (or a combination). If you prefer a smooth green sauce, combine all the ingredients in a blender.

SIMPLE MISO CITRUS DIPPING SAUCE:

  • To give the sauce a brighter and fresher flavor, replace the rice vinegar with a tablespoon or two of freshly squeezed lemon, lime, orange, or tangerine juice. Optionally, grate some citrus zest into fine zest and sprinkle it on top of each serving bowl.

SIMPLE MISO SOY DIPPING SAUCE:

  • For a straightforward and satisfying variation, add a tablespoon or two of soy sauce to the main recipe or any of the preceding variations.
