INGREDIENTS:

  • ¼ cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 large egg, slightly beaten
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3 ½ tablespoons white sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ teaspoons active dry yeast

For the Spread:

  • ¼ cup and 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 ½ tablespoons butter, melted
  • ½ cup pecan nuts, chopped

For the Glaze Topping:

  • 2 cups icing sugar
  • 1 ½ tablespoons butter, melted
  • 12 drops vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoon green-colored sugar
  • 1 tablespoon yellow-colored sugar
  • 1 tablespoon purple-colored sugar

 

PREPARATIONS:

  1. Place the first 8 ingredients into the bread machine, following the order specified in the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. Select the dough cycle on the bread machine.
  3. In a bowl, combine the first 3 spread ingredients and set aside.
  4. Grease a baking sheet.
  5. Once the dough cycle is complete, remove the dough from the machine and place it on a floured surface. Roll it out into a flat rectangle shape, approximately 10 × 28 inches.
  6. Spread the prepared spread evenly over the flat dough surface and sprinkle chopped pecans on top.
  7. Roll up the dough from one of the longer sides into a log, approximately 28 inches long.
  8. Place the dough log onto the greased baking sheet, seam-side down, and shape it into a ring. Pinch the ends of the ring together to join them, moistening the dough if needed.
  9. Cover the ring with a cloth and let it rise for 30 minutes.
  10. While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 375ºF (190ºC).
  11. After rising, remove the cloth and bake the cake in the preheated oven until the top turns golden brown.
  12. Mix the first 4 glaze ingredients together to create a smooth, thick consistency.
  13. Once the cake is baked, remove it from the oven and place it on a drying rack. Apply the glaze and sprinkle the colored sugars on top in alternating bands.
  14. Allow the cake to cool completely before serving.

 

TIPS:

  • To achieve vibrant and evenly colored sugars, mix granulated sugar with a few drops of food coloring in separate bowls.
