INGREDIENTS:

For the Horseradish Drizzle:

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • 2 teaspoons prepared horseradish
  • ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon lemon juice
  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper

 

For the Fried Green Tomatoes:

  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup cornmeal
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1½ pounds firm green tomatoes, cut into ¼-inch slices
  • Oil for misting or cooking spray

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

Prepare the Horseradish Drizzle:

  1. In a bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, prepared horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, and black pepper. Mix all the ingredients until well incorporated. Chill the horseradish drizzle while you prepare the fried green tomatoes.

 

Coating and Air Frying:

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C).
  2. In a shallow bowl, beat the eggs and buttermilk together.
  3. In a plate or shallow dish, mix together the cornmeal, breadcrumbs, and salt.
  4. Dip 4 slices of green tomatoes into the egg mixture, ensuring they are well coated. Then, roll the tomato slices in the breadcrumb mixture, making sure they are evenly coated.
  5. Mist one side of the coated tomato slices with oil or cooking spray, and place them in the air fryer basket with the oiled side facing down. Arrange them in a single layer.
  6. Mist the top of the tomato slices with oil or cooking spray.
  7. Air fry the tomato slices for 10 to 15 minutes, turning them once during cooking to ensure even browning. The tomatoes should become golden brown and crispy.
  8. Repeat steps 5 through 8 to coat and air fry the remaining green tomato slices.

 

Serve with Horseradish Drizzle:

  1. Just before serving, drizzle the prepared Horseradish Drizzle over the fried green tomatoes, adding a delightful touch of tanginess and creaminess to each bite.
