Yield: 4 servings

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cooking Time: 8–9 minutes

Total Time: 18–19 minutes

INGREDIENTS:

  • ¼ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • ¼ cup pecans
  • 1½ teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1½ teaspoons brown sugar
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • 1 egg white
  • 2 teaspoons water
  • 1 medium apple
  • Oil for misting or cooking spray

INSTRUCTIONS:

Prepare the Panko Mixture:

  1. In a food processor, combine the panko breadcrumbs, pecans, cinnamon, and brown sugar. Process the ingredients until they form small crumbs.

Coat with Cornstarch:

  1. Place the cornstarch in a plastic bag or a bowl with a lid.
  2. Cut the apple into small wedges, ensuring the thickest edge is no more than ⅜ to ½-inch thick. Remove the core but leave the skin intact.
  3. Place the apple wedges into the bag with cornstarch, seal it, and shake to coat the wedges evenly.

Prepare the Egg Wash:

  1. In a shallow dish, beat the egg white and water together until they become slightly foamy.

Coat with Panko Mixture:

  1. Dip each cornstarch-coated apple wedge into the egg wash, shaking off any excess. Roll the egg-washed wedge in the panko mixture to coat it thoroughly.

Preheat the Air Fryer:

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C).

Air Fryer Cooking:

  1. Lightly mist the coated apple wedges with oil or cooking spray.
  2. Arrange the coated wedges in a single layer within the air fryer basket. If any wedges have stuck together, gently break them apart.
  3. Cook the apple wedges for 5 minutes. Afterward, shake the basket to ensure even cooking. Lightly mist the wedges with oil again and continue cooking for an additional 3 to 4 minutes, or until the wedges become delightfully crispy.

Indulge in the delightful contrast of textures and flavors that Fried Apple Wedges bring to your palate. With the combination of aromatic cinnamon, the nutty crunch of pecans, and the natural sweetness of apples, each bite is a burst of happiness. The air fryer’s magic ensures that you achieve that desired crispiness while maintaining the wholesome goodness of the ingredients. Whether served as an irresistible snack or a light dessert, these Fried Apple Wedges are a true treat for your taste buds.
