INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Core the tomatoes and cut them into approximately 1/4-inch-thick slices.
  2. If desired, place the tomato slices on a board and lightly sprinkle them with salt. This step helps to remove some of the excess liquid from the tomatoes. You can set the board at an angle to allow the liquid to drain into the sink or a bowl.
  3. Arrange the tomato slices, mozzarella cheese slices, and basil leaves on a platter or divide them among four individual plates.
  4. Sprinkle the salad with a pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper to enhance the flavors.
