For Bolognese Jaffle:
- 1 1/3 cups (330g) Easy Bolognese Sauce (recipe below) or use leftovers of your own sauce
- 8 slices thick-cut white bread or wholemeal bread
- 4 tablespoons (80g) Western Star Spreadable Original Soft
- 8 Bega Tasty Natural Cheese Slices
For Easy Bolognese Sauce:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 400g lean beef mince
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 2 x 400g cans diced tomatoes
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Grated Perfect Italiano Parmesan, to serve
INSTRUCTIONS:
Easy Bolognese Sauce:
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, and cook, stirring often, for 3-4 minutes until softened. Transfer the onion and garlic to a plate.
- Add the remaining oil and lean beef mince to the same pan. Cook the mince, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, over medium-high heat until it’s browned.
- Stir in the cooked onion and garlic, dried oregano, and diced tomatoes. Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer, partially covered, while stirring occasionally, for 1 hour. Your Easy Bolognese Sauce is now ready.
Bolognese Jaffle:
- Preheat a jaffle maker. If using leftover Bolognese sauce, bring it to room temperature or warm it slightly in the microwave.
- Spread both sides of each slice of bread with Western Star Spreadable Original Soft.
- Divide the Bolognese sauce evenly and spread it over 4 slices of bread, leaving a 1cm border. Top each of these Bolognese-filled slices with 2 Bega Tasty Natural Cheese Slices.
- Place the remaining 4 slices of bread on top of the Bolognese and cheese, creating 4 Bolognese Jaffles.
- Cook the Bolognese Jaffles in the preheated jaffle maker in two batches. Cook each batch for 3-4 minutes or until the jaffles turn golden and toasted.
- Serve the Bolognese Jaffles with cherry tomatoes and basil leaves if desired, for a fresh and vibrant accompaniment.
- Sprinkle the jaffles with grated Perfect Italiano Parmesan for an extra touch of cheesy goodness.
