Ashta can also be made into a type of pudding that you can cook yourself.
MAKES: 6-8 portions
INGREDIENTS:
- 6 Cups (1⅖ l) milk
- 2 Cups (240g) powdered sugar
- ⅖ Cup (51g) cornstarch
- 2 Tablespoons rose water
- 1 Tablespoons orange blossom water or raisins
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Boil 5 cups (1⅕ liters) of milk, add powdered sugar, and whisk until the sugar has dissolved.
- Dissolve the cornstarch in the remaining cold milk.
- Let the pot stand over medium heat and add the thickener while whisking continuously.
- When the milk begins to thicken, add the rose water and the orange blossom water.
- Add raisins if you want. Garnish with candied orange flowers and ground pistachios.
