INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • 1½ cups flour
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 pound beef cube steaks
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Oil for misting or cooking spray

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Begin by beating the eggs and buttermilk together in a shallow dish to create an egg wash.
  2. In another shallow dish, stir together the flour, ½ teaspoon of salt, and ¼ teaspoon of pepper. This mixture will serve as the breading for the cube steaks.
  3. Season the beef cube steaks with the remaining salt and pepper according to your taste preferences.
  4. Dip each cube steak into the flour mixture, ensuring it’s coated evenly. Then dip it into the egg and buttermilk wash, and finally back into the flour mixture, thoroughly coating the steak.
  5. Spray both sides of the coated cube steaks with oil or cooking spray. This step will help achieve that delightful crispiness.
  6. Arrange the coated steaks in a single layer within the air fryer basket, taking care not to overcrowd the basket. You might need to cook in two batches to ensure even cooking.
  7. Cook the first batch of cube steaks in the air fryer at 360°F for 10 minutes. After the initial 10 minutes, spray the tops of the steaks with oil and continue cooking for an additional 5 minutes, or until the meat is thoroughly cooked.
  8. While the first batch is cooking, you can prepare the remaining cube steaks.
  9. Repeat the cooking process for the second batch of cube steaks, following the same steps of air frying at 360°F for 10 minutes, then spraying with oil and cooking for another 5 minutes until the meat is well done.
