Ingredients:
- 1 rack spare ribs
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 ½ cup water
- ½ cup barbecue sauce
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 250F.
- Prepare the dry rub by mixing brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper and smoked paprika in a bowl.
- Season the ribs from top and bottom with the rub mixture.
- Place the ribs in a roasting pan and keep the meat side up.
- Add water such that it covers the bottom ¼th of the pan.
- Tightly cover the pan with foil and roast for 4 hours.
- To check if the ribs are tender you can use a fork. Carefully remove the foil from a corner and insert the fork and twist it; if the meat easily break away then it is done otherwise, place the roaster pan back in the oven and check after every 30 to 45 minutes.
- Brush on the BBQ sauce. Use large knife to cut the ribs and serve.
Note: To get tender ribs, remove the membrane. Slide a knife under the membrane and pull it away using your fingers or kitchen towel.
For storing leftover ribs, use airtight container to store in refrigerator. To freeze the ribs you need to let them cool and then pack in plastic wrap and then add in freezer bag.
